Lessons learned:
1) Being 38 is just that, you're not 28 anymore lol!
2) Know your limits....yea right....
3) Enjoy life and always keep a positive outlook!

If you look at life for what it's worth and continue to be positive, then getting older is not so bad.  It's appreciating what you have (especially family), learning new things and growing up!

Same week, Day 2, Workout: 3 miles run/ walk...still at 187

So, here's one of my recent photos with my oldest daughter eating yummy pancakes for breakfast!  Then, I found an awesome picture (courtesy of Kendra) from 1994 (I think).  From 1991-1995 I was on the Gonzaga University rowing team; those years were the best shape I've ever been in, and the workouts were extremely sick, a love/hate relationship!  But it paid off because our 'Rowing JV8 team' took 3rd at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, CA.  The bonus was that if we beat out the Varsity team, we would have the honor to row the "Dirigo," one of the most streamlined and awesome fiber glass eights, to row in the finals!  What a great event, unforgettable!

The rowing picture not only reminds me of the great times I've had with my friends at GU, but also that fitness has great rewards!

Today I ran a total of 3.29 miles and walked some parts of it.  The average mile was 12'18" for my run.  And the walking part was 13'40"/mile.  That tells me I need to open my stride more when running.  Also, I'm building my pace again to where I can run without walking.  After today's training, I felt more energized and was ready to train again at Taekwondo.

I know this is only the second day, but I'm looking forward to my next run tomorrow!

Nike Stats:
1) Coach Program - Walk to Run - ahead of goal - 89 days left
2) Burn 4,000 calories in 4 weeks - currently burned 841 cal
4) Flab to Fab Challenge - run a total of 113 miles by 8/29/10

  • Currently in 99th place out of 213, not bad!
5) Challenge - 210 for 2010 - run a total of 210 miles by 12/31/10
  • Currently in 46,011 place out of 54, 148 - I better get moving!

P.S. Someday I want to go on the Ellen DeGeneres to show my fitness results, dance, and win some prizes!

Back to 145 - Week 1

Week of May 9-16, 2010, current weight: 187lbs.

Rule of thumb: Weigh yourself in the beginning of every week.....I continue to weigh myself every Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Saturday and I fluctuate between 182-189lbs. On a good day when I wake up before the alarm, I can get down to 179! So here I am once again, longing to be back in a comfortable weight where I don't have to feel a role of fat when I sit down or worry about my zipper not reaching the bottom of that jeans button so that I don't have an open 'v' that tends to slowly come down after moving around a lot.

I made a goal to get the Nike Pacer which was $59.00 at Sports Authority . I researched the price on the Nike website and budgeted for this purchase at the end of April. I got the Nike band, red/black, then realized I had to get the shoes for the sensor! Since the shoes online started at $135+, I decided to shop locally and found an awesome pair of Nike shoes, with the sensor, on sale for $69.99, at Fred Meyer , what a deal!

Today I tried out the Nike shoes & band and found that it was easy to track and upload on the nikeplus.com website. I've scheduled goals and entered challenges for 2010:

1) Ideal weight: 145
2) Coach Program - Walk to Run - ahead of goal
3) Burn 4,000 calories in 4 weeks - ahead of goal
4) Entered the Challenge - Flab to Fab - run a total of 113 miles by 8/29/10
  • Currently in 400+ place
5) Entered the Challenge - 210 for 2010 - run a total of 210 miles by 12/31/10
  • Currently in 43,000+ place
My determination and perseverance is on and it's going to increase everyday!

P.S. Someday I want to go on the Ellen DeGeneres show to dance my shoes off and win some prizes!
